Mara is a belly dancer and belly dance instructor who has recently relocated from Orange County California to beautiful Colorado Springs! She is looking forward to sharing her experience and love of belly dance with new students. She has been teaching belly dance classes in Southern California for over 10 years and has been performing for over 20 years.

She has studied under Cyriana, Medea, Aleia, Fahteim and Ansuya. Mara also had the pleasure of participating in the Belly Dancer's Dream Tour to Egypt led by Leyla Amir (a former five star dancer in Egypt), where she had the opportunity to take workshops with Professor Hassan Khalil, one of the pioneer giants of Oriental and Folk Dance of Egypt, and Kharriya Mazzin, one of the last actively performing Ghawazee dancers.

Throughout her dance career she has continued to expanded her dance knowledge by taking workshops with accomplished dancers and choreographers from around the world including Momo Kadous, Karim Nagi & Ahmed Hussien (Egypt), Sahra Saeeda & Zahra Zuhair (Egypt/LA), Leila Haddad (Tunisia), Leyla Jouvana (Germany), Artemis Mourat (Turkey), Amani Jabril (Iraq), Silvia Salamanca (Spain), DaVid (Scandinavia), Nourhan Sharif, Dalia Carella, Neon & Jehan (NY), Suhaila Salimpour, Fat Chance Belly Dance & Ariellah (San Francisco), Mesmera & Roxxanne Shelaby (Hollywood), Dahlena (Chicago), Delilah (WA), Eva Cernik & Sadie (CO), Virginia Mendez (FL), Anaheed (Granada Hills), Aleia (Oceanside), Sashi (Fullerton), Marguerite (China/Los Angeles), Judeen Esau (Santa Ynez), Katia & Amaya (NM), and the Belly Dance Superstars: Jillina, Sonia Ochoa, Issam Houshan, Aziza, Rania, Petite Jamillah, Rachel Brice, Sharon Kihara, Moria, Zoe Jakes, Meera and Sabah. In addition to Egypt, she has traveled to Turkey, Greece, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Oman.

Mara integrates Egyptian, Armenian, Turkish and Cabaret styles of dance with a modern flair to create her own unique performing style. She is skilled with finger cymbals, rectangular veils, semi-circular veils, scimitar, cane and candelabra and performs outstanding drum solos and floor work.

Mara performs at Middle Eastern restaurants, belly dance festivals and private parties throughout Colorado Springs.  Mara is available for private parties, wedding receptions, banquets and restaurant entertainment (sorry, no bachelor parties please).
